No. Insurance covers damage. Roadside Protection Plus only covers towing and assistance.
No. Covered towing has no distance limit anywhere in Iceland.
There is no fixed limit, but each case is reviewed. Valid, unavoidable issues are covered. Repeated calls caused by misuse or poor decision-making will not be covered.
Yes the 30 euro service fee is included. This covers things like handling fees for fines, the fuel service fee when you return the car without filling up (fuel cost not included), and other standard service charges. If the towing or assistance is not covered because of misuse, negligence, or incorrect handling of the vehicle, the 30 euro service fee will be charged to the renter.
Breakdowns
Mechanical or electrical failures that are not caused by the renter, such as alternator failure, electrical faults, engine issues, or a battery that fails for normal reasons.
Anything caused by incorrect use of the vehicle, including burnt clutches, over-revving, improper shifting, or other misuse-related mechanical damage.
No. Misfueling is never covered. All related costs, including towing, must be paid by the renter.
Tires
Towing is only covered when the tire is too damaged to repair with the foam kit and the vehicle does not have a spare tire. Most flat tires must be handled by the renter.
If the car has tire repair foam, you must use it and drive to the nearest workshop. If the car has a spare tire, you must install it and drive to the workshop. If the tire is destroyed, cannot be repaired with foam, and the car does not have a spare, towing is covered.
Yes. Roadside Protection Plus only covers towing, not the tire. However, if you purchased the Platinum Insurance Package, the tire itself is covered by your tire insurance, but towing rules still apply the same way.

Accidents
Only when the accident was not your fault.
Towing is not covered and the cost follows your insurance policy.
You pay for towing at the time. Once responsibility is confirmed, we review the case. If you were not at fault, the towing cost is refunded.
Weather and Road Conditions
It covers towing only when the situation was unavoidable and you followed road and weather advice. If warnings were ignored, conditions were unsafe, or you attempted to drive through deep snow, it is not covered.
No. Assistance related to wind-damaged doors is not covered. Wind damage itself is also not covered under any insurance package.
F-Roads and Off-Road
Yes, if you are driving a 4x4 vehicle allowed on F-roads and you are on a legal, open F-road.
F35, F550, and road 864 are never covered for towing.
No. Off-road driving is always excluded.
No. These are considered misuse or poor judgment and are never covered.
Using Roadside Protection Plus
If the issue is mechanical or unavoidable, it is usually covered. If it was caused by misuse, ignoring conditions, or unsafe driving, it is not.
