Supporting Reforestation in Iceland
Go Rentals supports Iceland's reforestation efforts through Kolviður, helping offset CO₂ emissions from our car and camper rentals. Since 2019, customers across our Go Campers and Go Car Rental fleets have contributed to this effort, together raising €6,500 to plant trees and restore natural landscapes across Iceland.

Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Go Rentals, responsible travel matters to us, and we work continuously to reduce our impact on Iceland's environment. Beyond our reforestation partnership, we've made real changes to how we operate. Our managers drive electric vehicles, and our airport shuttle runs fully electric, cutting emissions while getting you to your rental with a smaller footprint. We also sort and dispose of waste responsibly across our operations.
We've also cut our paper use by 90% over the past two years by moving to digital signatures at pickup, removing the need for printed paperwork. Every euro from our initiative goes straight to Kolviður, Iceland's leading reforestation fund, supporting the restoration of the country's forests and landscapes for future generations. Sustainable travel should be simple for our customers, because seeing Iceland shouldn't come at the planet's expense.
The Sharing Center
Reducing waste is part of how we do business at Go Rentals. That's why we set up the Sharing Center, a simple system that lets travelers leave behind food and other useful items for the next person to use.
Many customers wrap up their trip with things left over, food, gear, or supplies they no longer need, often more than what a short trip called for. Rather than throwing it out, they can drop it off at our office for someone else to pick up. It's a small step that cuts down on waste and helps the next traveler save a bit of money along the way.
How You Can Contribute
Iceland's landscapes are stunning, but they're also fragile. As travelers, we all share responsibility for protecting the country's natural beauty for the future. Iceland already stands out as one of the most sustainable destinations in the world, drawing 85% of its energy from renewable sources and ranking among the least polluted countries anywhere. Still, as tourism grows quickly, so does its impact on the environment, which makes traveling responsibly more important than ever.
To help, we give customers the option to support our reforestation initiative with a €1 per day donation on their car rental. Every contribution, no matter how small, adds up to make a real difference for Iceland's nature.
We're proud to work with Kolviður, Iceland's reforestation fund, to offset carbon emissions and help restore the country's forests. With your support, we can protect Iceland's landscapes for the travelers who come after us. Thank you for traveling responsibly and helping make Iceland greener for future adventurers.
