Frequently Asked Questions
Hyundai Tucson (or similar) is available for rent in Iceland from Go Car Rental.
The Hyundai Tucson is allowed on F-roads (highlands) in Iceland, but it's important to remember that off-road driving is illegal in Iceland.
The Hyundai Tucson can seat up to 5 passengers.
The Kia Sorento can hold two large suitcases and 2 small bags.
Every Go Car Rental includes free cancellation, 24/7 roadside assistance, zero deposit, insurance, online check-in and a self-service option.
With Go Car Rental, you’ll receive a discount fuel key that gives you 12 ISK off per liter at Orkan gas stations (the pink ones you’ll see all around Iceland). The key is a small black key with the pink Orkan logo on the keychain, and it’s easy to use.
If you’ve selected Silver, Gold or Platinum insurance, you’re eligible for our convenient self service pick-up. During our opening hours, you can take the Go Car Rental shuttle to our office at Fuglavík 43, 230 Reykjanesbær, where you can collect your vehicle and start your adventure.
The minimum age to rent a car in Iceland is 20 years, and you must have held a valid driver’s license for at least 1 year.
Age requirements vary depending on the vehicle type:
20+ years for 2WD and medium 4WD/AWD vehicles
23+ years for larger 4WD, SUVs and luxury models
If you haven’t reached 20 or haven’t held your license for 12 months, you can still rent a car, but a young driver’s fee of 25 euros per day will apply to your booking. Make sure to read your rental agreement carefully to ensure a smooth experience on Iceland’s roads.
If you choose our Gold or Platinum insurance, you won’t need to present a credit card for a deposit at pick-up. However, we’ll still need to register a card on file, so a debit card works perfectly fine in this case. Just bring it along and we’ll handle the rest.
