Is there a limit on the distance that can be driven each day?
All short-term rentals have unlimited mileage.
If you have a long-term rental agreement for one month or longer, there will be a limit on mileage.
What is included in the price?
All short-term rentals include unlimited mileage and CDW insurance (which can be declined), third party liability (with a 250€ self risk), studded winter tires during winter time (Nov-April) taxes and fees.
What kind of insurances do you offer?
1. CDW (2800€ self risk) - included
2. Theft Protection (2800€ self risk) - included
3. Super CDW (500€ / 900€ self risk) - 15€ per day
4. Gravel Protection (0€ self risk) - 10€ per day
5. Sand and Ash Protection (500€ self risk) - 15€ per day
6. Gold insurance (SCDW,GP,SAAP, TP) - 35€ per day
7. Platinum insurance (SCDW,GP,SAAP, TP) - 60€ per day with 0€ excess.
Is our insurance still valid, if we drive on F-Roads?
Yes, the only area where there is no possible insurance at all, is when crossing rivers.

However, if you have a 2wd car, you are not allowed to go on F-roads and therefore, you are not insured while driving on F-roads and you will be liable for fines and costs of repairing any damage to the chassis of the car.
Are you allowed to sleep in the car?
No, it's not permitted to sleep in your rental car.
But our partners at Go Campers offer all sorts of camper vans for rental which you can sleep in.
We share an office with them so we recommend that you check them out if you are thinking about camping out on your road trip.
Otherwise we offer camping equipment to rent, including sleeping bags, mattresses and more, with all rental cars.
What are the gas prices in Iceland ?
If you follow this link, you can see up-to-date prices varying from the cheapest stations up to the most expensive ones, It's usually just a matter of a 2-3 krone per litre difference.
We also give out free Discount cards for use at gas stations in Iceland.
Is it hard to find gas stations ?
Usually they are positioned every 50 km around the Ring Road, but make sure you fill up the tank before you go into the Highlands as we have only a few stations located there.

Do I need to return the car with a full tank?
Yes, you will receive the car with a full tank and you will need to return the car with a full tank.
If the fuel tank is not filled, we will charge a 20€ service fee on top of the fuel charge.
We will charge a 20€ handling fee for processing parking tickets, speeding fines & tunnel fees.
There are parking meters in downtown Reykjavik, Þingvellir National Park, Skaftafell National Park and in Akureyri.
There are also multiple speed cameras positioned around the country, especially in tunnels, so make sure you don't drive over the limit.
There is a tunnel in the north of Iceland, between Akureyri & Myvatn, which costs 1.500ISK if you pay online 3 hours prior or after you go through them at www.tunnel.is
Where are you located and where can we pick up our car?
We are located in Hafnarfjordur, the town of the Vikings and the Elves! It is a suburb of the capital Reykjavik.
You can pick up the car at our office.
You can get a free pick up and drop off in the Reykjavik area with our shuttle bus between 09:00 -17:00.
You can also get the car delivered to the international airport at Keflavik, from where you can drive off and return the car for an additional 50€.
However if you book for more than five days, you will get free delivery and drop off at the airport.
Just let us know at least 24 hours in advance where in Reykjavik you are staying or which flight you are arriving on.
How do I pay?
Go Car Rental accepts payments by Visa and MasterCard credit cards.
A cancellation two or more days ahead of the rental is fully refundable,
A cancellation within 48 hours of the rental agreement is non-refundable.
Can I pay upon arrival?
Yes you can choose between two payment options when booking the car.
15% confirmation payment with the rest paid upon arrival
What documents are needed to rent a car?
All you need is:
A valid credit card, Visa or MasterCard for insurance and
A valid driver's license for each driver.
Does my national driver license work to rent a car in Iceland?
Almost certainly, althouogh we will need to understand the writing on it, so it needs to be in Western alphabetical letters.
Otherwise we will need to see a translated copy of your driver's license in English or you will need to have an international driver's license.
How old do I need to be to rent a car in Iceland?
You need to be 20 years or older to rent a car in Iceland in order for you to be insured, these are icelandic laws for rental cars and insurance companies.
What is the minimal rental period?
The minimum rental period is 24 hours.
You can still return the car earlier if you don't need it for a full 24 hour period, but the minimum charge is one day.
What happens if the car breaks down?
You would just need to give us a call on our emergency number +354 551 1115.
We have friendly workshops positioned all around Iceland that can fix the car, If that doesn't work out, we will bring you another car as soon as possible. But with our maintenance policy we have never experienced such a situation and we aim to keep it that way.
Do you take a Deposit during my rental?
We do not take any deposit from our clients during their rental. We do however need to see a valid credit card on arrival, which we require to take imprint of as a guarantee.
If the renter does not have a credit card, we will require to take a deposit from their debit card for the amount of the self risk. (2800€/900€/500€)
